Socially Secured Employees (SVP)

Employees Subject to Social Insurance Contribution or Socially Secured Employees are published by the 'Bundesagentur für Arbeit', successor of 'Bundesanstalt für Arbeit'.

Please Note
The classification of economic activity (=Wirtschaftszweig =WZ) has changed a couple of times. With each review of the classification former groups can't be compared to current groupings, therefore older data is not comparable to the new data.

The most current classification system is WZ08, and replaces WZ03, data according to WZ08 is currently only available from 2008, and data according to WZ03 ends in 2008.

If you need more information on this please try this German page from DESTATIS: Klassifikationen

Socially Secured Employees are clerks and manual workers including vocational trainees who are obliged to contribute to Social Insurance (health insurance, pension fund, etc.) according to legal regulations (Arbeitsförderungsgesetz AFG).
Generally not included are all self-employed, unpaid family workers, civil servants or employees not obliged to contribute to social insurance due to minor employment. Soldiers liable to military service or people doing alternative national service are regarded as socially secured employees in case they were socially secured employees before they had to discontinue their job in order to fulfil national service.

Numbers describe the volume of employees based on the place of work and not the place of residence. (Arbeitsortprinzip)

as at 30.06.
