Administrative Reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Definition:
In 2010 the Landtag in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern decided to undertake a administrative reform to create viable structures for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As aresult the new law is coming into effect on September 4, 2011, which outlines a reform of the districts, it reduces the districts from 18 to 8. Only Rostock and Schwerin remain in their old boundaries, all other districts are merged, partially or completely, into new districts.
