Travel Time Radius

Definition:
The travel time radius gives an indication on the distance one can travel by car within a defined range of time, here from the city centre. As these are calculated with general assuptions on speed, and do not include real road conditions, driving behavior or congestion risks the zones should only give an approximate possible radius and are not catchment areas as such. We are providing information for three zones:
  • Zone 1: travel time up to 10 minutes
  • Zone 2: travel time from 10 to 20 minutes
  • Zone 3: travel time from 20 to 30 minutes

For each zone the number of inhabitants in these zones is provided, using population figures based on postcode areas, build up area and proportional sums. In regions near the German border the travel time radius is limited to German territory.
